If any of this rings true for you, then you are in the right place. The format, content, and environment for Deva Daaru School of Yoga & Integral Studies 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training is beyond different. You may hear that from other schools and trainers, so here are some of the "how's and whys" of what makes this program unique --
Check these out and decide for yourself:
#1: The house and retreat center where the 9 months of long weekend immersions takes place was built specifically for you. It was designed with the principles of "vastu" or yogic feng shui as a basis for construction and lifestyle. Here, we are living in alignment with yoga and the natural world as we learn and embody the teachings. Deva Daaru YogaFarm was built to provide the space for students to get away from the busyness of life and to "live your yoga".
It is from this perspective where we derive our guiding principe:
#2: This program has more than 250 contact hours over the course of the 9 months of training. This is more than 70 hours greater than what is required by Yoga Alliance for their 200 hour training standards. Why? Because yoga teachers are being pumped out of programs like they are widgets, hustled out into the yoga industry lacking the tools, understanding, and confidence they need to be successful, competent, and positioned to enjoy the amazing experience of sharing yoga with others.
#3: The format is designed around first, embodying the teachings, and then, teaching the teachings. In this way, you are sharing what you KNOW to be true in your heart and the "teaching part" comes out of an abundance of deeply seeded knowledge and personal experience instead of from memorization or pressure to learn concepts, categories and academia. Yes, there are things we need to know that come through our Yoga Teacher Training Manual. But the real nectar that comes from Yoga comes through your own practice and sharing of that practice in ways that are relevant to you and your life.
#4: The community will become your family. This training is set at Britt and her husband's home, which will become your home during your weekend immersions. You will journey with 14 other Teachers in Training, and you will get to know one another in a way that is supportive, honest, deep and real. With a maximum of 15 student teachers in training, we will come together to learn, grow, practice, live, prepare meals, and delve into the depths of Yoga by being both students and teachers for 9 whole months.
#5: Our "schedule" of training is a template of criteria we fulfill via Yoga Alliance, and then we use the extra time (more than 70 hours) to learn from what life presents. We use the realities of our lives: waxing and waning energy, the seasons, illness, injury, and all the "real world" life experiences as our teachers. After all, when you finally get out there to teach, it is not going to happen in a sterile environment. You will be faced with questions around all of above topics, and together we will navigate life's challenges with the sacred lens of Yoga as our guide.
These are just a few of the ways that this training stands apart. If you are looking for a fast track yoga teacher training, this training is NOT for you. If you are looking for a deep, life transforming experience that leads you through the richness of this ancient art and medicine to a place where you stand before YOUR future students with a meaningful, comprehensive toolbox full of riches to be shared, well then....
Britt has a 2+ decade history of eclectic, well-rounded experiences that includes being fully immersed in academia, the real world, clinical research, fitness, ayurveda and yoga. Regarding the ancient study, she has lived, learned, and taught overseas and she is a devout follower of the Teachings while still keeping both feet, right here, right now. (This is where we practice our yoga -- right here, right now.)
If you haven't taken a class with Britt, please do so before you decide to embark upon this journey, as there is nothing more important than you choosing a teacher with whom you share a deep heart connection -- and the truth is that can't be written in a resume or outlined in a teacher training manual. HERE is Britt's Bio. And HERE is her local teaching schedule.

This is an incredibly unique program, both because it is deeply rooted in the traditional teachings — which allow you to LIVE your yoga every single day (which sets you up to live and teach from a place of joy, integrity, and clarity), and it is also immersive, walking you month by month, season by season, into the depths of yoga, ayurveda, and the practical challenges of learning to teach, getting the support you need each step of the way, gracefully guiding you into your teaching.

Each day you wake up and you either move through life consciously -- paying attention to the details, or unconsciously -- going through the motions. It isn’t what happens in your life that makes the greatest impact -- it’s the perspective through which you see your life and what you do with what you see.
